CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: THE LANGUAGE BARRIER REINSTATED
[Today, something somewhere went wrong. On the evening on the 15th, any bilingual (or otherwise) knowledge granted by the Campus has simply...disappeared. At least for anybody walking by the North Wing.]
Tja ... det här kommer att lägga sordin på våra studier, är nu inte det?
[Translation: Well...this is going to put a damper on our studies, now isn't it?]
((ooc: So! For the next 5 days (the 15th~20th), your character officially only knows their native tongue. Aka, whatever language they primarily grew up with. They can no longer read, speak, or understand any other language but.
For fun you can even use Google Translate to show what your character is speaking at a glance! Don't worry, we all know it's probably gibberish :P
If you go the Google route, please be sure to put a translation at the bottom. If not, then please take care to specify what language your character is speaking in at the start of every thread.
If you have any questions, just head to the mod plurk or send this account a PM, but most importantly--have fun!))

What, really? What happened?
[Why did he have to miss things like that?]
no subject
The chain got completely blasted, though... so I found him a rope to use instead.
no subject
[Kai's giving the kid an 'Are you insane' look before he just snickers. Of course he'd miss something like that. Too bad it didn't destroy the Ring. That would've solved a lot of problems.]
Should've just let him carry it around, he deserves an extra irritation or two.
[He pushes up his left sleeve, scowling as the cuff brushes over the scar. This is why he's currently busting his ass learning the next level of Cure. Having the spell only heal part of it, and still having to sit through stitches? Nope, not doing that again.]
This was mostly my fault, I just had to get the last word in. [If by 'last word' you meant waving a digital recorder over your shoulder in what could only be interpreted as 'Screw you'.]
Look, Bakura's a dick, but it's complicated. He's actually a spirit inside that Ring, and the body he's walking around in isn't his. It's Ryou's, and he's-
[There's that familiar frustration welling up. Kai sighs, trying to fix his sleeve so it doesn't slide down again. The scar's a few inches away from his elbow, so it's kind of annoying. He focuses on that so he doesn't have to look up.]
Ryou's my friend...like a kid brother. Hard to do anything about the Creeper with him involved.
no subject
[If Kai cares to look, he'll notice that one of Tenar's hands is bandaged way too heavily for a "not bad" cut, while both are just covered in normal little bandaids.]
Maybe, but it was my fault, so I figured I should fix it.
[Um. Whoa, whoa, slow down, man. The moment Kai starts talking about a "spirit inside the Ring," Tenar's entire face goes blank with confusion, and all he can do is tilt his head.]
...Um...
[He comes from a world with a different kind of spirit. He has no idea how to figure this part out.]
no subject
Anything sharp is dangerous. Hell, even when it's not sharp, it might be.
[Oh yes, he's noticed that hand now, and all the mothering he's been unable to do since he's been here (if you want to call it that, and not just an urge to take care of people he gives a damn about) springs up. He holds out a hand towards Tenar, looking a teeny bit exasperated. Kai'd probably be amused if he realized it was the same look his mom used to give him when he skinned his knees play fighting.]
Let me see that, I can fix it.
[He can try and explain about Bakura better after that's taken care of. Geeze, even when they're both speaking English it's not the same language.]
no subject
Kinda, but it's the difference between catching it and dodging it!
...Huh? Fix what?
[Tenar seems to legitimately not understand what he's going for, just tilting his head.]
no subject
Your hand. The cut the Ring gave you? [For Light's sake, Tenar.]
I can cast Cure on it so you don't need it wrapped up?
[This'll strike him funny later, he knows it. Right now he just needs to try and help.]
no subject
[He offers his hand for Kai to look at. If the older boy decides to take the bandages off, however, he'll see what Tenar considers "not really that bad" would probably be "oh god get me stitches" for anyone else.]
no subject
Wait, in his, obviously.
Kai mutters something that sounds suspiciously like 'My mom would've had fits at this' before holding his free hand over the cut and closing his eyes. The light that settles over and into the wound is a bright green and warm, like being in a patch of sunlight. When he pulls his hand back, the wound's completely healed over.]
Yay for second tier spells.
[Just don't give him a reason to use it on anything else for a while, that was a little tiring.]
no subject
He flexes his hand some, grinning a little.]
That's better. Thanks!
no subject
[Sitting down kind of feels like a good idea, so he'll do that, leaning his back up against the edge of the roof. Definitely needs more practice there, so it doesn't wear him out.]
Okay...um. Where were we before I got caught up being Mother Hen?
[Yep, now it's striking him as funny.]
no subject
[He places his back against the wall, sliding down to sit next to Kai.]
no subject
Bakura! That's where we were. I was trying to explain the Creeper.
[Ha ha, take two. Geeze. He turns his head as Tenar sits down.]
Okay, so...do you have ghosts where you're from?
no subject
I don't... know how you put a spirit in a thing.
no subject
I don't know either, but he's in there. Ryou can't get rid of him, not even by trying to ditch the Ring. Apparently it just comes back. He can keep him from even taking the thing off, too, by sticking him in the chest with those prongs.
[He winces at the thought. Stupid Creeper.]
no subject
[Tenar looks at his hand, then brings it up to press against his own chest, approximating about where the prongs would fall with where it rested on Bakura.
He... does not like what this seems to be.]
That's really close to some important stuff... and those things can go really deep, I bet...
no subject
He's not going to kill him, at least. Kind of needs him, after all.
[Kai sighs, shifting against the wall in an effort to get comfortable.]
I tend to see him more than Ryou these days. It's irritating. 'Course, I think him seeing me is just as bad. [What smirk, there's nothing there. Stop being proud of all the wrong things, boy.] Though if you ever meet Ryou...he's a good person.
But be careful around Bakura. He's really good at twisting things, and trust me, you don't want to piss him off. Be kind of neat if I listened to my own advice, actually.
no subject
[Tenar looks over, tilting his head at the smirk and fiddling with his bandana.]
Bakura was pretty nice to me, actually. He is creepy, but maybe he's not completely bad. I'll still be careful, though.
[If nothing else, he knows how quickly people can turn sour, so he won't fully trust someone he just met. His hand slides up under the bandana, resting on the small bag that's well-hidden under it.]
Hey, Kai... do you have somewhere you could carry a small thing on you?
no subject
[But the kid being careful is really all he can ask for, right? Kai rubs at the bridge of his nose. Light, he thinks Bakura's starting to give him migraines now. What a shocker that is. The question makes him glance back over, confused.]
Um, my pockets? Unless I figure out if I can keep stuff wherever my Keychains go when they're not in use.
no subject
[That's why he has his on a pouch around his neck, after all.]
no subject
Kai just sort of stares for a second before nodding.]
I remember. But my Cure magic'll fix- okay, once I've fully learned it it'll fix a lot. You don't have that many, right? So you should keep them.
[But he's already considering where he could put something like that and not have to worry about losing or forgetting it...or having the school abscond with it as a joke.]
Ummm. Let me try something. [Who knows if it'll even work. He holds out a hand and concentrates, and moments later the Keychain for Howling Flame is resting in his palm. Setting it in his lap, he pulls a loose thread off the edge of his hoodie pocket and ties it to the flame-shaped piece of metal.]
Be nifty if this works.
[A small flash of light and both Keychain and thread are gone. Kai takes a deep breath and tries to will only the thread back. Maybe...]
HA! [He holds up the black thread and grins at Tenar.] Now I know I can get it back. I should probably tie it to one I don't use that often, though.
no subject
[He watches what Kai's doing curiously, then grins a little when the thread comes back.]
Hey, it works! We should probably tie it to a pouch or something, though, so the Senzu can't just slip out.
But there's a good place to put it!
no subject
Yeah, we are. I'll be careful with it. Thanks.
[He snickers as he flicks the thread away into the air.] I've got a little one I've been keeping erasers in, I could use that.
no subject
[He nods a little, leaning on his hands some.]
Lemme see it?
no subject
Sure, it's back in the room...wait a second.
[Does he feel like going back down to fetch the pouch? No, no he doesn't. So he'll just open the smallest portal possible (completely arm-sized) and root around in there for a few moments.] I think I'm next to the dresser- OW. Yep, found it.
[Faint rustling noises can be heard, as if he's digging blindly through a box, which is exactly what he's doing. Kai finally pulls his arm free and closes the portal, emptying a few pencil-top erasers out of the small grey pouch.]
Here you go!
