CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: THE LANGUAGE BARRIER REINSTATED

[Today, something somewhere went wrong. On the evening on the 15th, any bilingual (or otherwise) knowledge granted by the Campus has simply...disappeared. At least for anybody walking by the North Wing.]

[Translation: Well...this is going to put a damper on our studies, now isn't it?]

((ooc: So! For the next 5 days (the 15th~20th), your character officially only knows their native tongue. Aka, whatever language they primarily grew up with. They can no longer read, speak, or understand any other language but.

For fun you can even use Google Translate to show what your character is speaking at a glance! Don't worry, we all know it's probably gibberish :P

If you go the Google route, please be sure to put a translation at the bottom. If not, then please take care to specify what language your character is speaking in at the start of every thread.

[...Right. Well, this got awkward kind of quickly.

Tenar just plops down on the roof, beginning to juggle his ki ball some. He doesn't want to go back inside, because everyone's talking in some weird language, and he's already explored the forest a lot. He could probably train for today, but he's too used to having someone to spar or endure with to just set out on his own.

Siiiigh.]

Why couldn't Kohlrain or Surito or Chihaya have come, too?

...? [He doesn't have a clue what the guy is saying, but ooh, more weird magic. Sitting down, he watches him with interest, biting into his cream puff. From what he can tell, Tenar looks bored. Well, that was his problem.]

What is that?

It's a ki ball.

[He recognizes the inflection enough to answer, bouncing it between his hands, then his feet, then even his head.]

People practice control pretty much any other way, so I'm the only one who does this.

[No, he doesn't care that Bakura can't understand him. He kinda just feels like talking right now.]

It's kinda dangerous, but I always keep it really low so it won't hurt anything.

'Ki'? ...Heka?

[Translation: 'Ki'? ...Magic?

Bakura sounds pretty impressed, either way. It's nothing compared to the attack of before, but it's still magic.]

[Whoa, hey. He actually repeated it back, and Tenar catches the ball in both hands to look at Bakura.]

Ki!

[Can you repeat it after him again?]

[What is he, a two year old? He repeats it again, thoughtfully.]

Ki...

[He should know that word. Part of him is sure he should. But it's no good. It's like a blank slate.]

[With the language barrier, they might as well be. Still, Tenar seemed excited that at least something got across.

He throws the ball up, rolling over on his back and bouncing it with his feet playfully. If only this was a real ball... he could toss it at Bakura.]

Don't touch it, though.

[...with his feet. Damn, this kid was good. Drawing his knee up so he can lean on it, he watches with interest. Not that he gets the warning, but the tone of it passes across well enough.

Maybe the kid should learn to play volleyball. Closing his eyes, he focuses, feeling it out. Interesting... he can't tell what it is precisely, but it's definitely tied to Tenar in a way. Opening his eyes again, he gives the boy a friendly smile and a thumbs up.]

You're pretty good!

[Tenar rolls up to a sitting position, catching it once more and flashing Bakura a grin. He lets the ki ball disperse, putting the bottoms of his feet together and holding onto his knees.]

Can you bounce something like that?

...? [LEARN EGYPTIAN, BOY. He doesn't understand a word of the question.]

[...Right. Sigh.

He manifests it again, points at the ki ball, then points at Bakura.]

[He shakes his head. Hm. How to explain this? Tracing an x in the air, he repeats the word again.]

Ki.

[Aka: He has none.]

...What?

[Unfortunately, seeing as "having none" is a completely unheard of concept, Tenar doesn't get it. At best, he can guess the guy is trying to say he's not trained.

But there's no way... after all, he can sense it pretty easily.

Oh well. That isn't what he wanted to know anyway. Tenar bounces it a couple of times, then points at Bakura questioningly again.]

[He shrugs in confusion, then points at the ball and traces the x again.]

[...Okay, this isn't going to work.

Tenar dispels the ki ball, then disappears into the Campus for a moment. When he returns, he sits back down in his place, holding up a baseball he found. After pointing at it for a moment, he tosses it over to Bakura lightly.]

[He catches it with ease, staring at it. Huh. So the guy wanted to see if he could juggle? Not with his feet, but he's pretty good with his hands. Throwing things is one of the few skills he's honestly really good at. Catching... a little less so, but he still doesn't drop it.]

[He grins a little, nodding and pointing at the ball, then Bakura.]

Can you?

Heh. [Well then. He'll give it a shot. He'd probably be more comfortable juggling knives, but he doesn't mind trying this. Though it's probably painfully slow to Tenar, he's fast as humans go, catching and tossing the ball with ease.

Though he does stick to his hands.]

[Slow it is, but he doesn't seem to mind that much, just putting his feet together again and leaning on his hands to watch.

He's never actually seen a human juggle -- or, really, done much with humans besides his mother. So he seems curious about it all the same.]

Is that as fast as you can go?

[Doesn't stop him from acting his age a little, though.]

[He can tell from the tone that he's being snarked at. In response, he does go faster, pushing his speed limits to the maximum he can handle. It's a little difficult with his arm still suffering from whiplash, but he's nothing if not stubborn.]

How's that?

Still pretty slow! But I guess that's not bad!

[Even despite the snark, it is a genuine compliment. Admittedly, even Surito couldn't really juggle.

He holds out his hand, as if offering to catch it if Bakura throws it.]

Heh. [In one fluid movement, he catches and throws the ball towards Tenar.]

[Without breaking stride, Tenar catches the ball and begins juggling it himself, bouncing it off his feet and head like before.

Heheh... this is kinda fun. Maybe they've got a game!]

Watch this.

[And he'll just be kicking the ball up high, then catching it to juggle a little more traditionally, though at a speed that's probably at least a little surprising.]

Tada~!

[That speed-! It's impressive... and inhuman. Then this kid isn't just a sorceror, he's something else. Something special. But what?

Regardless, the actions get lazy applause from him.]

[He sticks his tongue out, then tosses the ball up again. Holding his hand up, palm flat, he waits until the ball hits it, then snaps up his fingers to send it flying at Bakura.

Thankfully, slow enough for him to grab it, as Tenar doesn't want to smack him right in the nose.]
