CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: THE LANGUAGE BARRIER REINSTATED

[Today, something somewhere went wrong. On the evening on the 15th, any bilingual (or otherwise) knowledge granted by the Campus has simply...disappeared. At least for anybody walking by the North Wing.]

((ooc: So! For the next 5 days (the 15th~20th), your character officially only knows their native tongue. Aka, whatever language they primarily grew up with. They can no longer read, speak, or understand any other language but.

For fun you can even use Google Translate to show what your character is speaking at a glance! Don't worry, we all know it's probably gibberish :P

If you go the Google route, please be sure to put a translation at the bottom. If not, then please take care to specify what language your character is speaking in at the start of every thread.

[Tenar seems to think better of his attack, or at the very least, the angle of it. Grabbing the Ring, he tosses it up in the sky, setting his feet and pulling his hands back behind him.]

[Just wait for it to fall into position... right... THERE!]

[He pours a significant amount of his energy into the blast, firing it directly at the Ring and hitting it dead-on.

It's one of his strongest techniques, especially with his natural talent in ki. He doesn't have to use all his energy, because if this isn't enough to break that thing...

He's pretty sure nothing will be.]

[What the hell even was that kind of attack? It's like the Burst Stream of Destruction. A massive force. He watches as the attack hits, shielding his eyes from the blinding light of it. He can tell before it fades that the Ring is intact. If it wasn't, he'd be in a whole lot of trouble right now.

Honestly... he had to test things out in the worst way, didn't he? But this was definitely interesting. This kid could be useful...]

[Even intact, the force of the blast sends it flying, meaning that all Tenar can see is the glint before it's gone.

...Did that thing really... survive that...]

[And he's off like a rocket, flying to where he thinks he saw it fall. Haha, there's no way...

...but no. There it is, sitting right where it fell on a rock like it was waiting for him to find it. What the hell kind of artifact is this?

He shakes his head after a moment, grabbing the Ring and flying back to the roof where Bakura is.]

Here... I guess you were right.

[He takes it back with no small amount of relief.

...aw damn. His shiny chain is gone. It's not surprising, since it's not part of the Ring itself, but dammit. He stole that from the thief king... And now he's going to have to keep it in his hands until he can find something else. Not that it'll take long, but...]

Heh. See why I laughed now?

That thing's tough... what is it?

[He doesn't expect an answer, but he does notice how Bakura's just holding it. ...oh yeah, that thing had a chain, didn't it.

Um. Whoops.]

Want me to go find another chain?

...? [He cocks his head to the side questioningly. Is the guy asking what's wrong? Carelessly, he taps the loop at the top where the chain had been threaded through.]

Yeah, I know I broke that. Sorry about that.

[He points at it, then at himself.]

Do you want me to find another one?

[Not really getting it, but the guy sounds apologetic, so he nods.]

[And he's off again, though this time it's less flying and more going through the door on the roof. Either way, it's only a few minutes before he comes back with a thin rope, offering it to Bakura.]

[...oh you are a gem, kid. It's not as good as the gold, but it's better than nothing. Grinning, he takes it and nods, threading it through the loop and fastening it back around his neck.]

[At least, he thinks that's what he said.]

[Ah, that's much better. Getting up off the ground, he rubs his arm, which is still aching from holding the Ring before.]

That's much better!

[His voice is surprisingly cheerful. Seeing that... it's definitely interesting. So much interesting stuff here! He hopes this one sticks around.]

[He notices Bakura rubbing his arm, frowning a little. He didn't actually hit it, did he?]

Can I see?

[He points at it, giving a bit of a concerned look.]

...? It's fine. It's just whiplash. I don't think anything broke.

[Shrugging off his long coat, not caring about the scarring that covers his arms, he shows him.]

See? It's nothing.

[Tenar doesn't seem at all put off by the scarring -- giving it just a brief glance -- before checking the arm himself. A little bit of gentle moving and poking later, he's pretty sure Bakura's right. This doesn't seem to be really hurt at all, so that's good!]

Sorry if I hurt it.

[He still feels a little bad, though.]

[He puts his coat back on once Tenar's done, flexing his arm a little. That tone makes him amused, though.]

Don't sound so pitiful! I've had far worse things happen.

[The way the kid handled his arm though... that plus the bandaging earlier indicated at least some first-aid training. How old was he? Curiously, he points to Tenar and then the tally again, but this time adding in a little world drawing beside it with the prong. How long have you been in this world, kid? It's roundabout, but it might work.]

[Well, he gets the tone at least. So this guy isn't some random civilian, then? Good. That makes it so Tenar doesn't have to feel bad anymore.

At the world drawing, though, he just blinks, confused, and looks between them.]

Scratching out a birthday cake, he taps it, then points at Tenar.]

[He holds up both his hands again, then puts them down and holds up three fingers.]

[Thirteen...? And yet he already has medical training? He shoots him a quizzical look and points to the bandage.]

My friends and I get hurt a lot, so we're used to it.

[He points at the bandage, then points at himself, shrugging as if saying "no big deal".]

[...not really answering the question, but whatever! He'll ask about it when the language barrier breaks.

Ooh, that was a wrapped-up profiterole or two he found in his pocket just now. Score! He forgot he had those on him.]

[...Right. Well, this got awkward kind of quickly.

Tenar just plops down on the roof, beginning to juggle his ki ball some. He doesn't want to go back inside, because everyone's talking in some weird language, and he's already explored the forest a lot. He could probably train for today, but he's too used to having someone to spar or endure with to just set out on his own.

Why couldn't Kohlrain or Surito or Chihaya have come, too?

...? [He doesn't have a clue what the guy is saying, but ooh, more weird magic. Sitting down, he watches him with interest, biting into his cream puff. From what he can tell, Tenar looks bored. Well, that was his problem.]

It's a ki ball.

[He recognizes the inflection enough to answer, bouncing it between his hands, then his feet, then even his head.]

People practice control pretty much any other way, so I'm the only one who does this.

[No, he doesn't care that Bakura can't understand him. He kinda just feels like talking right now.]

It's kinda dangerous, but I always keep it really low so it won't hurt anything.
