ISLAND WIDE EVENT: LIGHTS OUT

[In the later afternoon, with the sun already setting in the sky, there's the sound of something deep within the building powering down. One after another the lights pop off like a domino effect down the hall, with each room following in suite as the electrical outage worked its way through the building.

It only took a matter of seconds for the Campus to be enveloped in complete, inky darkness. Even with the proper time to adjust one's vision, it was still neigh-impossible to see. There was nothing but cold, lonely blindness.

Outside, the sun set...and it didn't rise again the next morning. The only saving grace was the starry night sky and the waning moon too keep the denizens from being completely consumed by darkness.]

((The darkness has come...RUN! Everything's the same, but now both the INSIDE and OUTSIDE of the island/campus are dark. It's much easier to see outside though, thanks to the stars and moon in the sky. Characters are free to improvise light sources, but nothing electrical that needs to plug in will be functioning. If something runs on batteries, it'll last until those die.

Such is the nature of a Shadow Game. No physical damage will remain once this is over... but those who trespass upon my soul so violently and harshly must suffer the consequences.

Back off! [Kaiba's quick to smack away Ryou's help, regretably lowering his hand from his eye. It was shut now, and no amount of effort would have him open it.

Aiming with only one eye...this wasn't good.

He grabs his next needle all the same, aiming for Yugi's forearm instead of his hand. When he throws the dart, it hits Yugi's side instead.

A drop of perspiration makes its way down the side of his face. Every shot he missed brought Yugi closer to victory...!]

['Trespass on my soul'...? What the hell did Kaiba do to deserve this? He obediently backs away, feeling hurt and worried, and goes to sit back against the wall. Drawing his knees up to his chest, he watches.

Even without physical damage, this is too cruel...]

[Yugi hisses in pain and winces at the spike through the good half of his body. It's absolutely horrible, and he nearly topples off the bed himself at it, gripping his side with his good hand.

When the pain subsides, he breathes slowly. Things were already being decided... and he weighs the syringe in his hand, turning that burning gaze to the teen beside him.]

You're panicking, Kaiba... what happened to being the "number one gamer in Japan?"

[Another hard toss... and it goes directly into Kaiba's other eye.]

[That head splitting pain had been bad enough the first time, but to have to suffer it again was unbearable.

Kaiba grasped the other side of his face this time, biting into his lip to try and distract from it. He still let out a cry--although shorter and much more restrained than the time before.

It takes him much longer to recover from the pain this time, but even after he does...he's been blinded.

This was utter humiliation.

He could still throw his syringe though, and after blindly grabbing for one he tries to remember just where the target was...

The needle flies through the air, hitting Yugi's left upper arm.]

[That gains a pained cry from Dark again, wincing and gritting his teeth some.]

...my left arm. A lucky shot, Kaiba.

Heh...is that so? ...I told you, Yugi. It's not luck!

[He won then! Against all odds; that's what it meant to be a true gamer.]

Ah, but it's not enough... It's just my upper arm. I can still throw.

[And with that, he does, letting the syringe arch...]

Game over, Kaiba.

[And impact into Kaiba's right hand, removing the last bit of function he has.]

What?!

[Kaiba's lips pull into a grimace, and he can only sit there and wait for the inevitable pain to surge through his body again.

When it does, he just gnashes his teeth, both from the pain and the agony of defeat.]

The game's over... and you lost.

[And suddenly, all the pressure and pain and paralysis is gone, Yugi sitting on the edge and the bed and staring at him scornfully, arms crossed and one leg over the other.]

...How pathetic.

[Kaiba breathes a sigh of relief when his body is released. The first thing he does is open his eyes, and the second is stand.

Looking down at his hands and stretching his fingers, he turns his focus over to Yugi, and while his expression was only slightly perturbed, he felt a prominent sense of dread in his heart.]

Tch. Just get it over with!

[...A Penalty Game awaited him.

Is this what he wanted...? The challenge and the humiliation of defeat. He hated it, but it spurred him on. It fueled his tenacity.]

No.

[Yugi shifts his position, laying back down on the bed and lacing his arms behind his head.]

Someone like you... you aren't even worth my time. You're too pathetic to even waste a Penalty Game on. An insect. Ironic, isn't it?

Get out of my sight.

[Of course... the Penalty Game has already been triggered, unbeknownst to Kaiba. The sneer, the insults... it's simply all in his head, the Penalty Game of "Dismissal."

In the real world, Dark simply shakes his head at Kaiba once everything is released, looking over to Ryou before laying down in the bed, closing his eyes. He'll stay in control of Yugi for a tad longer... at least until Kaiba drives himself out of the room.]

What? You can't do that... [Who the hell did Yugi think he was, dismissing him like that?!]

Have you lost your nerve, Yugi? [He sweeps an arm out, and then clenches it into a fist at chest height.] I lost, now give me my Penalty!

[What kind of Duelist, gamer, or otherwise would he be if he simply allowed this to happen?! He would be nothing better than a loser and a coward!]

[Dark simply glances up at Kaiba, shifting to move to another bed as he yells at nothing. The Yugi in Kaiba's head continues to taunt and torment him as the real one motions Ryou to come over.]

[Getting up from the ground slowly, he shot Kaiba a confused and worried look before obediently going over to Yugi. Or, well... the other Yugi.]

Is there something you need?

Kaiba will be all right in a few days. Hopefully next time, he'll learn not to hurt me like that again.

[That really makes it sound worse than it is, but Dark doesn't seem to realize. Or care.]

Can you see if there's a thicker blanket over in the closet?

Un. Hold on.

[Dutifully ignoring Kaiba (he doesn't want to, but from the way he's talking to the air, he's sure the guy doesn't even know he's there anyway), he checks the closet and comes back with the thickest blanket he can find.

'Hurt me'... huh? Was Kaiba really that sort of guy? Yugi's clothes are still on, so it couldn't be too bad... right?]

Will this do? I can bring a couple of thinner ones if it won't.

Uh?

[Yugi blinks up a bit blearily when Ryou comes over, feeling a bit groggy. Oh, is he already back?

...Ah, a blanket... that's good. He wriggles a little out of Bakura's coat, offering it back.]

Thanks, Bakura-kun... that'll be perfect.

[fluffydeathdealer]

[...?

And just like that... the Yugi-kun he knows is back. His gaze softens a little at the sight of him and he takes the coat dutifully. Setting it on the chair beside the bed, he carefully wraps Yugi up in the warm blanket. Lifting a hand to check Yugi's temperature, he glances around to try to figure out if there's a source of water nearby. Cold medication, he can find here easily enough.]

How are you feeling?

Ah... not really any different.

[He snuggles down into the blanket as he says that. Indeed, there's no trace of that Shadow Game's pain any longer, Dark having made sure there wasn't so much as a prickle left for Yugi to feel. As it is, his eyes flutter shut, then open again at another noise behind them.]

...is Kaiba-kun... yelling at someone...?

[He's a bit too out of it to register his name in the growling.]

[fluffydeathdealer]

Don't worry... Just rest. I'll explain everything later, if you still want to know.

[He speaks soothingly, wondering how the hell he's going to explain it. 'The other you defended your honor by making Kaiba go crazy' probably wouldn't work.]

[Probably not. Yugi just nods a little, though, trying to snuggle down into bed and yawning.]

...Bakura-kun... please... don't go anywhere... okay?

[fluffydeathdealer]

I didn't plan to.

[It's a simple answer, and one he punctuates by drawing the chair up beside the bed and sitting on it.]

I'll be right here, so don't worry. If you need anything at all, just let me know.

[awishforfriends]

[That earns Ryou a smile, but it quivers after a moment as tears start to fall again.]

...Thank you...

[He quickly grabs some tissues, offering them to Yugi. If he doesn't take them, he'll just wipe the tears away, but it's better to offer.]

Now, now... what's wrong, Yugi-kun?
