CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: EVERYTHING AND THE KITCHEN SINK

[Hopefully everybody likes waking up outside.

Because as it were, in the middle of the night when everybody had been asleep or lulled into a sudden one by the sheer weight of the air around them...the Campus disappeared in its entirety. Left behind was only the cool surface of the concrete foundation.

For now it seems the residents were left to fend for themselves in the wilderness of the island. Not even the voice from over the intercom would comfort them.]

((ooc: the school has disappeared, along with all the NPCs and everything that was inside! no opt-out areas this time around. The temperature is cool during the day, and colder at night.

The event will last until October 20th, and I'll post a closer to signify it. Everything will be returned to its rightful place then.))

[The look on her face is immediately interested, then mixed with unease and caution. It's true, the man hadn't bat an eye at her, but the whole reason she'd neglected asking him before was because he was not giving off a very sane feeling.

...even so, there's that steak still dangled in front of her. It's right within reach, something she's wanted ever since she figured out she had these damn powers. And all she had to do to learn about them... was get to know a crazy guy. Right.]

What would you want for teaching me?

I don't know yet. [He lies without hesitation, his smile softer than usual, but still ultimately sharp and vicious.]

How about you just owe me a favour in the future?

[moderndaydragon]

See, that's the part I'm not sure about, considering how our first meeting went. Who are you, anyway?

Waking up 3,000 years in the future would be a shock to anybody! I was excited...

[But since she asked her name, he spreads his arms in a boasting gesture.] But I've caught on fast enough--as a thief should! The Great Thief King Bakura, to be exact!

[moderndaydragon]

["Bakura?" Oh geeze, figures someone like this would have a name like his... oh well.]

Thief King, huh... must be boring around here, then, with not much of anything to steal.

[stealshinies]

There's plenty to steal, just nothing I want!

[Dismissively] But that doesn't matter. Did you want me to train you or not?

[moderndaydragon]

[Karasu bites her lip, thinking. Every part of her wants to know more about this power of hers, that dragon half that she sometimes loves and other times fears. But the sane part of her brain is worried about what someone like this would ask for the favor.

Finally...]

I do. And I'll owe you that favor, on one condition: I don't kill people. I'll protect, I'll hunt, I'll break, but I don't kill people.

Deal?

[stealshinies]

[Tsk! What a condition. He could work with it, though. Killing he could always do himself. Worse comes to worst he could just have her hold somebody down while he lands the killing blow.

But mostly, he's just interested in protection from more Ka and the few people he's gotten on his tail.]

Then let me add a condition of my own. For every thing I teach you...I want one favour!

[moderndaydragon]

What?!

[Oh geeze... so he did want her to kill people. Why isn't she surprised at that? But the idea is too alluring... and she's sure it could be bad, but really, without killing someone, how bad could it be?]

...Fine. Agreed.

[stealshinies]

Let's make it official then. [He reaches back into his robes, pulling out an onion which her holds out to her.]

[moderndaydragon]

[...She blinks blankly, staring at it, then him.]

Explanation, if you please?

...I keep forgetting how different the future can be. Fine then, in Egypt we swear over onions! It's a sacred vegetable after all, hehe...

[He urges the vegetable towards her again.] Put your right hand on it and swear to me that for everything I teach you, you'll repay me with a favour!

[moderndaydragon]

[Well, it makes as much sense as anything else. Karasu puts her hand on it, blowing out some air. Well, no going back now.]

For everything you teach me, I'll repay you with a favor so long as that favor doesn't involve me killing an actual person or people. I swear to that.

[stealshinies]

Very good... [Bakura pulls the onion back and then takes a bite out of it. That wasn't part of the swearing ceremony, he was just hungry.]

We can start today. It's not like there's anything else to do!

[moderndaydragon]

[Did he just... ewwww. Karasu makes a face at that.]

I guess that's true. My name is Karasu, by the way.

[stealshinies]

...? [Bakura doesn't get it and just keeps on munching.]

Good to know. [He doesn't care!] Let's move somewhere where we can have a little privacy, h-heh.

[Gesturing for her to follow, he heads deeper into the forest.]

[...What a dick. What, was he just going to call her "you" or something? Ug, what did she get herself into?

Sighing, she follows behind him, adjusting her shirt some and rubbing her arms the entire way. This was going to turn into another horrible, horrible decision, wasn't it?]

[Bakura leisurely travels awhile, unfamiliar with these woods and simply waiting for an opportunistic spot to appear.

Which it does when they come to a clearing, a small lake at the center. There was even a bear drinking near the shore. How quaint.]

This should do nicely!

[moderndaydragon]

[Whoa hey, she... wasn't expecting a bear to be just there.]

I guess I won't have to go looking, then... that's convenient.

[stealshinies]

Hm? [What was she talking about? He was the one doing all the looking.]

First things first. Turn into your Ka!

[moderndaydragon]

[She meant for a bear! But at the order, she gives him a puzzled look. At least context made it easy to guess what he was talking about -- there was only one thing she could turn into.

That same blue-white glow later, she's back in dragon form, one set of claws in front of him like a protective dog's paw. She's hunched down some, as if trying to keep everything below the tree level, turning to peer curiously at Bakura for the next instruction.]

[stealshinies]

Let's see... [He really had no idea what he was doing, but that was fine. He'd just teach her bullshit basics for now in order to tally up the favours she'd owe him later.]

You can turn into the Ka just fine. Obviously what you're lacking right now is proper control! Do you see that bear over there? [He gestures towards it with one sweeping motion.]

I want you to kill it with a single claw. Walk up to it and land a precise blow to its belly!

[moderndaydragon]

[A single strike, huh... Karasu eyes the bear some, trying to figure out how to do this. After a moment, she seems to get an idea, and takes a long stride out into the clearing to get beside the animal.

The bear, understandably, is neither happy to see her nor brave enough to try to attack something easily a few times as big as him. Turning her hand palm up, Karasu swings forwards and upwards, the middle claw piercing through the bear's stomach and leaving it impaled. She holds it there for a moment, feeling a little sorry for it as the blood pours out and soaks the white scales, before twisting her tail around a little to tap Bakura's back in a sign it was safe to come over.]

[He's pleased by what he sees, to say the least. Not only did she follow his directions, but he got a free meal out of it to boot.

He starts a slow clap and promptly pushes that tail away.]

Very good! You see, that's the beauty of precision, of planning your moves before you make them!

[He takes a few long strides to meet Karasu and the bear, looking down at the creature with hungry eyes.] And now we have dinner.

[She gives a confirming growl, turning her paw up to dump the bear's corpse on ground in front of him. Turning around, she dunks her claw into the lake, trying to wash off that blood with a grimace that's visible even on the dragon's jaw.]
