CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: EVERYTHING AND THE KITCHEN SINK

[Hopefully everybody likes waking up outside.

Because as it were, in the middle of the night when everybody had been asleep or lulled into a sudden one by the sheer weight of the air around them...the Campus disappeared in its entirety. Left behind was only the cool surface of the concrete foundation.

For now it seems the residents were left to fend for themselves in the wilderness of the island. Not even the voice from over the intercom would comfort them.]

((ooc: the school has disappeared, along with all the NPCs and everything that was inside! no opt-out areas this time around. The temperature is cool during the day, and colder at night.

The event will last until October 20th, and I'll post a closer to signify it. Everything will be returned to its rightful place then.))

[It doesn't knock him out, but it does knock him over. The strike took him by such surprise that he stumbled back, covering his face with his hands before dropping down to his knees and curling over towards the ground.

Now his head really hurt.

Malik lets out a pathetic whine.]

Ah-! Sorry, Malik-kun!

[Now if he can just reach the knife to cut himself loose, he can go pat him on the head or something.]

Ngh...

[Damn. He does not want to be at Malik's mercy right now.

...the only response is laughter.]

[Malik sits back up after a minute, but only to roll onto his back a moment later with one hand clutching his eye.

Shit...it really hurt! His head was pounding so hard he thought he might throw-up from the nauseating pain that resulted.

Normally he wouldn't just lie here, but he was already feeling miserable. This was just too much. He didn't want to move. Forget it.]

You'll pay for this... [He mutters the words so quietly that Ryou may not even hear them.]

[...oh jeez. Malik looked both pissed off and hurting bad. Ryou sighs, trying again to reach up and grab the knife. Almost...

Nope. Just a minute's rest before he tries again. Over. And over. And over. Until finally...]

Got it! - Oh crap-!

[He hits the ground with a thud, groaning before rolling over to get up.]

Owww...

[Malik's still laying in place, having not even moved when Ryou fell down. His eye felt a bit swollen beneath his hand...that wasn't good.

When he feels better, he really is going to make Ryou pay for this.]

Malik-kun...?

[Approaching him nervously, he grasps him by the shoulder.]

C...can you stand?

[He didn't hit him so hard his brains got scrambled, right?!]

[It takes a minute for him to speak, his voice shaken and weak.]

If I stand...I'm going to throw-up...and I'm going to make sure I do it on you.

[Jeez, Malik... can it be you're really quite a weak person?

He sinks down to sit beside him, feeling a little guilty.]

You're really overreacting, Malik-kun...

Go to hell, Ryou. My head was pounding before... Now I feel like it's going to split open.

[Tentatively he removes his hand from his face, reveling what is the distinct beginnings of swelling and dark bruising around his eye.]

[fluffydeathdealer]

... [Whistle. He didn't realize he was even capable of hitting that hard.]

I already said I was sorry... there's nothing else I can do.

I don't want your stupid apology. Ugh.

[Malik moves as if he might sit up, but then decides against it. Taking a bath in the stream sounded really nice right about now.]

[fluffydeathdealer]

Do you need a hand...?

[Gah, Malik, stop being a bitch and be... no, wait, Malik's usually a bitch.]

[Stubbornness alone had him pulling himself up and getting back to his feet, although the pain in his head was causing him to favour one side slightly. Without even looking back at Ryou he made his way to the stream.]

[fluffydeathdealer]

[Picking up the blanket, he follows Malik, not daring to say anything. At least the water should help Malik feel better, he hopes.]

[A few minutes of walking and they make it to the stream, Malik gratefully shucking off his shoes and sitting at its edge with his feet in the water.

He reaches forward with both hands held out like a bowl, scooping up some water to spill over his mess of blonde hair. The rush of cool water almost instantly takes the edge off his fever, and with it the sharpest pain of his headache fades.]

Ahh... [For a minute, he forgets how angry he is.]

...hey, Malik-kun?

[He sinks down to take a drink of the water, not looking at the other boy. God, he's thirsty.

But he needs to say something. This silence is getting uncomfortable.]

Why do you trust the spirit so much?

[Malik reaches down again to scoop up more water to drink, but pauses at Ryou's question. Where did Ryou get off, asking him something like that after punching him in the face?

Still, he's compelled to answer, if with a bit of an attitude..]

I have many reasons. What does it matter?

I was just wondering. It seems a little strange... [A soft sigh. Of course Malik was going to be difficult. But in for a penny... it's something he's been wondering about for a while.]

I can't really figure out what it is you see in him. The 'other me' doesn't usually let people get close unless he wants something from them, after all. He's a 'gaming master' who uses people all the time... so why would you trust him?

[Something stirs in the back of his mind, listening intently.]

[Malik seems to think over this a moment, a nervousness stirring in his chest, but he was confident in Bakura...for the most part. He knew Bakura was manipulative, but so was he. By that logic, Bakura shouldn't trust him either.

When he finally does answer, his words lack his usual arrogance and bite.]

He could have had everything he wanted from me nearly two months ago, but he chose to save my life instead. And then when I'd lost those items he wanted entirely...he still gave them back to me.

[fluffydeathdealer]

Eh...? Why would he do that...?

[It makes no sense. The spirit he knows is prone to manipulating people to an alarming level. Why would he give up what he wanted from Malik?]

I don't understand that guy at all... Why would someone like him protect someone who's no use to him?

Ah, can it be that you two just have similar natures?

Feh, that's because it's more than just being useful. [Although they were useful to each other now, at the time Bakura still had little reason to keep him alive.]

I would keep him around even if he weren't useful to me. I just enjoy his company...and our "natures" certainly don't clash.

[fluffydeathdealer]

You enjoy more than his company...

[He mutters those words just loud enough to be heard, then busies himself drinking the water, realizing he's been too bold. His face burns at the memory of two days ago.]

A-anyway, it's still strange to me. But I guess I never will understand him... or you either.

...What was that? [Malik had finally went to drink some water when he heard a bit of that muttering. His own gulping had prevented him from hearing it clearly! Figures...]

[fluffydeathdealer]

I, uhm. I said that you enjoy more than just his company. [Sigh] Way, way more.

[Like his dick. Or technically Ryou's dick.]

[Malik can feel his face begin to burn again, and he quickly pats it down with his cooler, wet hands.

He had no way of knowing Ryou knew about that, so he just assumed he was referring to the other things they'd done...]

Why are you saying it like that?! There's nothing wrong with enjoying that too.
