CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: THE LANGUAGE BARRIER REINSTATED

[Today, something somewhere went wrong. On the evening on the 15th, any bilingual (or otherwise) knowledge granted by the Campus has simply...disappeared. At least for anybody walking by the North Wing.]

((ooc: So! For the next 5 days (the 15th~20th), your character officially only knows their native tongue. Aka, whatever language they primarily grew up with. They can no longer read, speak, or understand any other language but.

For fun you can even use Google Translate to show what your character is speaking at a glance! Don't worry, we all know it's probably gibberish :P

If you go the Google route, please be sure to put a translation at the bottom. If not, then please take care to specify what language your character is speaking in at the start of every thread.

[Nodding back, he stoops to grab the railing and use it to drop back down onto the rooftop. No sense just standing there for ages.

...he's definitely jealous of the kid's ability to fly. Curiously, he points to Tenar, then up.]

[He can probably root around for something later on... no big deal. He drops down to stand on the railing when Bakura gets off, blinking at the gesture.

He looks at himself, then up, then back to the other male. After a moment, curiously, he hops back up, floating once again and giving a questioning look.]

[Gah, what a pain... He wanted to know how the kid was doing that, but even if he got his question through, he wouldn't be able to understand the answer. Shaking his head, he waves his hand dismissively and leans against the railing again.

After a moment, he points at himself.]

Bakura.

[...and then points at Tenar.]

[Tenar shrugs at the wave, dropping to sit on it again like he was before, just turned around so he can still look at Bakura.

...Hrm? Was that his name? He frowns, tripping a couple times as he tries to pronounce it.]

...Bakura?

[Bakura nods, looking a little pleased. At least something got passed over.]

Bakura. Yes. And you?

[He points at Tenar again.]

[Okay, so this guy's name is Bakura. That's easy enough. He points at himself, as if to try to reinforce the introduction.]

Tenar!

Te... ner? [For some reason, it's hard to say the last part. His mouth wants to pronounce it first "ner" and then "na-re".]

Yup. Tenar. That's my name!

[Giving up on the "nar" sound, he nods. Tenar... he'll have to remember that. When - if? - the words defaulted back to the translation he'd gotten used to, he'd need to ask him about the flying thing. Curiously, he taps Ryou's watch, then points at Tenar, hoping the question gets across.]

Huh? What time is it?

[He frowns a little confusedly, scratching the side of his head as he tries to figure it out. He leans over to look at the watch -- and no, that's working. So...

What the hell is he asking?]

[Sigh. Going over to the nearby wall, he grasps one of the Ring's prongs and uses it to scratch something in the brick. It looks like a tally.]

Do you get it?

[Is he making lines? Tick-tack-toe!

...no, wait, that wasn't it. Tally marks...?

...Oh! He gets it!]

You wanna know how long I've been here?

[...he thinks.]

[That sounds like recognition. Just to make sure, he points at the sun, then the tally marks. How many days have you been here, kid?]

[Okay, yeah. He gets what Bakura wants now, and he feels a little dumb for it taking a while.]

Um...

[How long HAS he been here? It takes him a minute to figure it out, but after some thought, he holds up both his hands, spread out and palms facing Bakura.

About 10 days, maybe?]

[Ten days, huh... That explains why he hasn't encountered him before. He nods, before returning to leaning on the railing. It's surprisingly nice out. A little cold, but the sun makes up for it.

...oh that's right. Using the sleeve of his coat, he wipes off the drying blood from the Ring.]

[Tenar gives the Ring a suspicious look as Bakura does that, pointing at the prong and flashing the teen a questioning expression.]

Does it do that often?

Hm? [The prong? He can guess at the question, and shakes his head. There's no easy way to translate that information without words, so what he does is pretty dramatic.

He mimics fighting, and defending from an attack.]

...Oh! I get it! It thought I was trying to hurt you or something?

[He hesitates, then mimes throwing a punch at Bakura.]

[Bakura nods, relaxing his posture and leaning back.]

You got it!

Huh, that's pretty nifty... I guess I can forgive it for stabbing me, then.

[Ug... he messes with the wrapping on his hand a little, wincing. It's nowhere near as bad as anything else, but that doesn't mean it's not bothering him. That little cut he was trying to make he could've ignored, but this is just irritating.]

I'm gonna break it if it does that again, though.

[God, learn Ancient Egyptian or something, won't you? He doesn't get a word of the gobbledegook the kid's saying and he makes it clear with the questioning look on his face.]

[Rrnng... he's really getting frustrated with this!

Tenar points to the Ring, points to his hand, then slams his foot down onto the railing hard enough to significantly dent it.

Did that get the idea across?]

[Throwing his head back, he bursts into peals of laughter.]

[...Okay, deranged laughter is not really something he's used to hearing from people unless they were about to try to blast him. As such, it immediately causes Tenar to bristle and he hops up, staring at Bakura a little bit uneasily.]

Um... you're not crazy, right?

[When his laughter dies, he just grins at Tenar, amused. There's no hostility in his posture. In fact, quite the opposite. He seems entirely relaxed. Taking the Ring off, keeping his hand on it to maintain the connection, he sets it on the railing and gestures from Tenar to the Ring.

Just don't hit his hand.]
