CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: EVERYTHING AND THE KITCHEN SINK

[Hopefully everybody likes waking up outside.

Because as it were, in the middle of the night when everybody had been asleep or lulled into a sudden one by the sheer weight of the air around them...the Campus disappeared in its entirety. Left behind was only the cool surface of the concrete foundation.

For now it seems the residents were left to fend for themselves in the wilderness of the island. Not even the voice from over the intercom would comfort them.]

((ooc: the school has disappeared, along with all the NPCs and everything that was inside! no opt-out areas this time around. The temperature is cool during the day, and colder at night.

The event will last until October 20th, and I'll post a closer to signify it. Everything will be returned to its rightful place then.))

Hm... [Malik looks to be seriously considering the offer as he holds the strip of meat between his fingertips.]

I guess it couldn't hurt. [Not-so-bravely, he takes a tentative bite at the food. When it doesn't immediately repel him, he takes the whole piece into his mouth and thoughtfully chews it.

His eyes light up and he looks back at Bakura in awe.]

...It's good!

[...wait, really?

...

Really?!

Bakura's expression is no less startled by Malik's appreciation.]

Seriously?! ...Maybe your aversion is just to red meat. And fish, I guess.

[obeytherod]

I guess... [He looks down, still blinking with bewilderment.] I didn't even know that birds were a different kind of meat.

[After his shock fades, Malik reaches out towards the bird, but pauses before actually touching it.]

I'm going to eat some more, okay?

[fluffydeathdealer]

Help yourself. It might help you recover faster. I can always go catch more.

[Heh... at least this means he doesn't have to totally refrain from eating meat, it seems.]

[Once he has permission, Malik looks back to the chicken and starts to eat. His appetite may have been curbed by the fruit and nuts, but he was still eating a good half of that chicken.

When he's had his fill he leans back with a sigh, looking satisfied.]

Hmm~ That was much better than just eating fruit all day.

Hahahahahahahahahaha! That's better, Malik-sama! It's been a while since I've seen you so satisfied!

[Bakura will be happily finishing off the rest.]

Keh... [Bakura's laughter is almost contagious, but Malik still feels sick enough to resist. After sitting by his partner's side for a bit he eventually gets up and returns to his "bed", nestling up under the blanket for another nap.

His headache still hadn't gone away...

The next day, Malik was still curled up on his side by well after noon with his face flushed and his forehead worryingly heated.]

[Kneeling beside him, Ryou looks over the sleeping boy with a worried expression.

Seeing him like this is familiar, but that's the last thing he wants to remember. It's natural to be reminded of that, with Malik in this state, but what can he even do about it? He can't leave Malik alone for even that long, in this state. What if he wakes up needing water? It'd be too embarassing...

No, more importantly, he shouldn't be thinking about that right now. Malik's forehead was burning hot to the touch. He didn't exactly have anything he could soak to rest on it either.]

Malik-kun, please get better...

[obeytherod]

[Malik stirs when a hand rests against his forehead. He was already in a restless sleep, so the words and slight touch were enough to wake him, groggy as he may be. He felt like he'd been run over twice now...

And like somebody filled his head with bricks.]

Hnn...Bakura? [He sees the familiar pajama pants at eye-level, and that's all he sees.]

[fluffydeathdealer]

No, it's me.

[Ryou leans over so he can see him easier, trying to hide the flushed expression on his face from his thoughts.]

Do you need anything?

[obeytherod]

[Feeling as sick as he was stripped a lot of Malik's usual hubris from him, and he answers with surprising honesty.]

Bakura. [Sighing, he closes his eyes again.] I just want to lie with him...

[fluffydeathdealer]

[Ryou wrings his hands nervously. He hasn't been out a lot in the last couple of days...]

Uhm... would you mind if... I laid with you instead?

[His face won't stop burning.]

[...He hasn't forgotten what Bakura said; that Ryou was "confused" about how he felt for him ever since they kissed.

He liked Ryou well enough, but he could see uses for this sort of affection. After all, knowing how he and Bakura felt for each other, having somebody else that blindly dedicated to him wasn't a bad thing.

That and he was too ill to argue it. Any contact would do right now, he just wanted to hold on to something.

Malik raises his arm.]

Yeah, that's fine.

[fluffydeathdealer]

[...

He really doesn't want to get sick, but Malik really sounds bad. Reluctantly, he lies down beside him, cuddling up to him a little and trying not to meet Malik's eyes.]

Eheh... this is a little strange. But I'm glad. I didn't want to go back to sleep so soon... I've hardly had a chance to be awake in the last couple of days.

[Malik settles his arm over the other boy's pale frame, enjoying the warmth even if his own body felt a bit too hot to begin with. It helped that he'd kicked the blanket down so it only covered his feet.]

Well, Bakura seems more competent at survival skills than you.

[fluffydeathdealer]

[He mutters something that sounds suspiciously like a curse - a rarity for mild-mannered Ryou - but doesn't elaborate.]

It's my body, Malik-kun. I deserve some time in it. [A sigh.] Especially after he had the nerve to claim it was his and that he was being kind enough to loan it to me sometimes. That jerk...

Maybe, but it won't do you much good dead either. [A pause.] Heh...when did he say that?

[fluffydeathdealer]

Neither of you were at risk of death. I was aware of a lot of it. [He pouts.] He told Karasu-chan that, because she saw me.

[obeytherod]

Ughh. [His expression sours, grip tightening on Ryou slightly.] That girl...

[fluffydeathdealer]

You don't like her, Malik-kun? [He rests his head against Malik's shoulder, thoughtlessly.]

I don't know what I think of her. She scolded me... But she didn't seem too bad.

[obeytherod]

I hate her! [Compared to how soft spoken he's been, those words came out with surprising force.]

She kept trying to get between me and Bakura...and then she has the audacity to try and be my "friend" afterward! Even after I tried to get rid of her.

[fluffydeathdealer]

[...that sounds just ambiguously threatening enough to be unclear. But the rage in Malik's voice is both surprising and confusing... and a tiny bit pitiful too.]

Now, now... Are you sure she was really trying that?

[obeytherod]

Of course I'm sure! She kept hanging around him...and she kissed him!

[He was getting so worked up so quickly, that that coupled with his fever was making him a bit dizzy. His voice lowers to a whisper because of it.]

And that asshole still hangs around with her...

If it helps, I don't think he likes it much. If she wasn't what she is, he'd probably be a lot colder to her.

[He rests his cool hand on Malik's forehead, worriedly.]

[That cool hand feels nice on his forehead, Malik making no effort to move away from it. He was still burning up, much like the jealousy in his voice.]

She's no use to us anyway, so why bother? And why kiss her?
