CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: THE LANGUAGE BARRIER REINSTATED

[Today, something somewhere went wrong. On the evening on the 15th, any bilingual (or otherwise) knowledge granted by the Campus has simply...disappeared. At least for anybody walking by the North Wing.]

[Translation: Well...this is going to put a damper on our studies, now isn't it?]

((ooc: So! For the next 5 days (the 15th~20th), your character officially only knows their native tongue. Aka, whatever language they primarily grew up with. They can no longer read, speak, or understand any other language but.

For fun you can even use Google Translate to show what your character is speaking at a glance! Don't worry, we all know it's probably gibberish :P

[If he notices the odd grip on it, he doesn't say anything, just reaching over to feel the Ring up like he's never seen any sort of jewelry before.

And in truth, he hasn't -- nothing like this, anyway. The most he's seen are things like the earrings he's wearing, not huge gigantic changing things that you'd think would hurt to wear after a while.

What is this...? Feels way too strong for gold.]

[Bakura silently and patiently waits, letting him touch it all he wants. With his supporting it, the Ring's weight isn't quite as noticeable as it would be normally, but it's clear it's something heavy. And the prongs are clearly sharp as nails at the end. There's a strange warmth to it, as if it's been lying in the sun.]

You're really strange, kid.

[This... really is weird. He's admittedly not the best when it comes to what stuff is made out of, but this feels way too strong for any sort of actual jewelry. And the prongs at the end... that felt sharp when he first touched it.

Flicking his eyes up to Bakura again for a moment, he shifts a little, letting go of the rail with the other hand to bring it up near the Ring.

This, of course, means that he's somehow leaning back on a railing without any support and not falling, but that might be overlooked once he swipes the end of a prong against his palm, using just enough force to try and check how sharp it is without cutting his actual hand off.]

[The Ring's reaction is prompt and immediate, the prong tensing to strike out against the unwanted contact in an aggressive manner. It's rare for it to react that strongly, but this is both someone with strange energy and someone who startled its' master. It's only natural.]

[Having the thing suddenly stab his hand is definitely not what Tenar's expecting, and he recoils enough to knock himself off the railing and into the air. Unlike one might expect -- what with gravity and all -- he simply stays there, floating and inspecting his hand.

...Okay, ripping away was probably not the best idea with that thing. This doesn't look all that good.]

That hurt!

What the hell-?!

[Bakura stares wide-eyed at the floating boy, almost falling over in shock. How many people here can fly?! he wonders. Karasu, Nights, this kid...

Wait.

Wait. Wait. Wait.

He has to temper his natural reactions of scorn a little to consider something. This kid... the Ring senses a strong will from him, and considering he can fly... no good isolating him until he can find out if he's useful. Grabbing the railing, he vaults up onto it, letting the Ring fall to rest against his chest.]

Oi. Are you alright?

[Even if the words aren't spoken, the way he's pointing to Tenar's hand and the 'concerned' tone might be enough of an explaination.]

[Tenar ignores Bakura's outburst to inspect his hand, looking over the wound carefully. It's not as bad as he thought it was, at first -- yeah, it hurts like hell and got ripped open and is bleeding kind of a lot, but he's had enough serious wounds to recognize them, and this one definitely isn't deep enough to cause any serious trouble.

A scar, maybe, but eh, he doesn't care about those very much. He can just --]

Huh?

[Bakura's movement gets his attention and he looks at him, then looks at his hand. Oh, yeah...]

I'm okay. Don't worry! I've had a lot worse!

[He smiles, using his unhurt hand to flash him a thumbs up to try and get the idea across.]

[Balanced there with his usual slovenly grace, Bakura tucks his hand back into his pocket at the acknowledgement that the kid was alright. Come to think of it...

He brings his hand up to touch the bloody prong, wonderingly. The boy hadn't gone up in flames or anything like that. Then the Ring wasn't out for destruction. Was it just a warning?

What's wrong with you? he wonders, and as usual, receives no response. As ever, the Ring's will is silent and immutable.]

...hmph.

[Letting it go, he absently licks the blood transfer from his finger before letting his hand fall back down to his side and nodding at the kid.]

Yeah, Tenar's thoughts just got shattered by you licking his blood, what the fuck is wrong with you?!]

...? [Oh right, that wasn't normal. He fakes a disgusted look of surprise before shaking his head. If he's lucky, the kid might think he did it by accident.]

[He is lucky, as Tenar goes from looking baffled and disgusted to just laughing. Silly teen guy...

His attention drops down to his hand again, where the blood is... definietly dripping off it now. Whoops. Hope no one's standing down there.

His clean hand goes up to his bandana (or more accurately, what's hidden under it) before he stops, then looks at Bakura curiously before pointing at the wound.]

Got something I can use for this?

[Well, it looks like the kid fell for it. Ryou has a handkerchief here somewhere, so he grabs that and offers it to him. After all, the kid was reaching for his bandanna, right? Clearly he wanted to bandage it up.]

[...Not what he meant, but okay. Tenar looks at it for a moment before he takes it, then proceeds to use his free hand and teeth to bind it up with an ease that suggests way more practice than any adult should have, never mind a kid.

He nods a little once he's done.]

Thanks. I guess this'll work for now.

[Nodding back, he stoops to grab the railing and use it to drop back down onto the rooftop. No sense just standing there for ages.

...he's definitely jealous of the kid's ability to fly. Curiously, he points to Tenar, then up.]

[He can probably root around for something later on... no big deal. He drops down to stand on the railing when Bakura gets off, blinking at the gesture.

He looks at himself, then up, then back to the other male. After a moment, curiously, he hops back up, floating once again and giving a questioning look.]

[Gah, what a pain... He wanted to know how the kid was doing that, but even if he got his question through, he wouldn't be able to understand the answer. Shaking his head, he waves his hand dismissively and leans against the railing again.

After a moment, he points at himself.]

Bakura.

[...and then points at Tenar.]

[Tenar shrugs at the wave, dropping to sit on it again like he was before, just turned around so he can still look at Bakura.

...Hrm? Was that his name? He frowns, tripping a couple times as he tries to pronounce it.]

...Bakura?

[Bakura nods, looking a little pleased. At least something got passed over.]

Bakura. Yes. And you?

[He points at Tenar again.]

[Okay, so this guy's name is Bakura. That's easy enough. He points at himself, as if to try to reinforce the introduction.]

Tenar!

Te... ner? [For some reason, it's hard to say the last part. His mouth wants to pronounce it first "ner" and then "na-re".]

Yup. Tenar. That's my name!

[fluffydeathdealer]

[Giving up on the "nar" sound, he nods. Tenar... he'll have to remember that. When - if? - the words defaulted back to the translation he'd gotten used to, he'd need to ask him about the flying thing. Curiously, he taps Ryou's watch, then points at Tenar, hoping the question gets across.]

Huh? What time is it?

[He frowns a little confusedly, scratching the side of his head as he tries to figure it out. He leans over to look at the watch -- and no, that's working. So...

What the hell is he asking?]

Um...

[Sigh. Going over to the nearby wall, he grasps one of the Ring's prongs and uses it to scratch something in the brick. It looks like a tally.]

Do you get it?

[Is he making lines? Tick-tack-toe!

...no, wait, that wasn't it. Tally marks...?

...Oh! He gets it!]
