CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: EVERYTHING AND THE KITCHEN SINK
[Hopefully everybody likes waking up outside.
Because as it were, in the middle of the night when everybody had been asleep or lulled into a sudden one by the sheer weight of the air around them...the Campus disappeared in its entirety. Left behind was only the cool surface of the concrete foundation.
For now it seems the residents were left to fend for themselves in the wilderness of the island. Not even the voice from over the intercom would comfort them.]
((ooc: the school has disappeared, along with all the NPCs and everything that was inside! no opt-out areas this time around. The temperature is cool during the day, and colder at night.
The event will last until October 20th, and I'll post a closer to signify it. Everything will be returned to its rightful place then.))

[They hadn't even walked that far, but Malik's weren't feeling much better.]

[He blames the cold, personally. It makes the concrete feel bad, and the twigs and clods of earth underfoot once they leave it feel worse.]
no subject
[That and he lived in Egypt. It wasn't a totally foreign concept, although this was definitely stretching it.]
You have a dagger, right? We can use that.
no subject
[Stooping down, he pulls up his pyjama leg to grasp the hilt of the ornate blade, admiring how it looks in the dim light as he twirls it in his hand.]
Good thing I sleep with this. Though after this I'm going to have to start sleeping with my deck too, if I can find it.
no subject
[The waver in his voice is enough to express just how unnerving he found that thought, even without finishing it.
Right now, he doesn't even want to think about it.]
Go and gather some thick leaves, dried out plant stems...anything that we can tie together and use as padding.
no subject
We can worry about that later. You're more important right now.
[With that oddly affectionate statement, he heads into the forest without even glancing back. Be back soon, Malik!]
no subject
But at least Bakura didn't put up a fight for once and just followed directions.
He'll probably have to help make the shoes still...]
no subject
Here.
no subject
This should work for now...
no subject
I guess if you can't sit down for long, you're going to need them more than me...
[Smirk.]
no subject
Just give me your knife. I'll make my own shoes! [Besides, he already knows how he's going to do this. It'll be faster than explaining it to Bakura.]
no subject
Here. Be careful with it.
no subject
Dried palm-tree like leaves wrapped around some miscellaneous foliage with stems and vines tied around all that to keep it together. The binding to keep it on his foot consists of some of the more forgivingly soft vines.
All-in-all...it looks like it'll hold together as long as they tread carefully.
That still took a good twenty minutes, and now he has to start on the second one. It's obvious he's feeling impatient, but Malik works diligently nonetheless.]
no subject
Hoh, this is pretty good work.
[For an amateur.]
no subject
That should do~
no subject
[He takes the knife back, trying to replicate what Malik did from observation.
Time passes... but he has something that will suffice, at least.]
Well then. This should do. Come on.
no subject
Some hours later, after being separated for a bit, they managed to find shelter. Of course then Bakura had to drag him into a cave to meet with Karasu and Kai, which ended as expected.
After heading back alone, Malik simmered for awhile, venting his frustration into making spare shoes for the both of them. To be dismissed by Bakura like that... What did he expect from him? Even if he knew Bakura was his, that didn't stop the anger he felt towards Karasu for having some sort of feelings for him. Not to mention the kindness she treated him with despite everything he'd done...it didn't quite anger him; he felt conflicted more than anything.
Eventually he laid down to sleep, curled up and shivering from the cold next to at least four and a half pairs of shoes. And it wasn't that they didn't have the materials for a fire, it was only that after countless attempts ending in failure, Malik eventually gave up.]
no subject
He wasn't looking forward to having to deal with the aftermath either. Part of him just wanted to go sleep somewhere else, make Malik worry, but that was a petty idea at best - and one that would surely send him completely over the edge.
It was a relief to see that Malik was asleep, but not so much to see him in that state. He rushes to his side, kneeling beside him and covering him quickly with the warm - if fairly slipshod - fur blanket he'd made.]
Idiot! Are you trying to get sick?
no subject
no subject
[His lips twitched into a smile despite himself. Ignoring the cold, he lies down beside Malik on the ground, watching him sleep.]
You're lucky you're cute, Malik Ishtar...
no subject
no subject
Oy, Malik-sama! Wake up, will you?
no subject
What is-- ...Eh? Where did this come from?
[He sits up, sniffling again as he looks down at the fur blanket. Apparently noticing his own condition, he brings a hand up rub at his nose.]
no subject
[He reaches out to check Malik's temperature worriedly.]
no subject
And what did you expect me to do? I tried making a fire, but the damn thing wouldn't start.
[His head doesn't feel unusually hot or anything so far.] It's your own fault for chasing me out! I wasn't trying to start anything.
