CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: EVERYTHING AND THE KITCHEN SINK
[Hopefully everybody likes waking up outside.
Because as it were, in the middle of the night when everybody had been asleep or lulled into a sudden one by the sheer weight of the air around them...the Campus disappeared in its entirety. Left behind was only the cool surface of the concrete foundation.
For now it seems the residents were left to fend for themselves in the wilderness of the island. Not even the voice from over the intercom would comfort them.]
((ooc: the school has disappeared, along with all the NPCs and everything that was inside! no opt-out areas this time around. The temperature is cool during the day, and colder at night.
The event will last until October 20th, and I'll post a closer to signify it. Everything will be returned to its rightful place then.))

For obeytherod
But even he can't ignore the fact that things have suddenly changed, and he wakes soon after, blinking in confusion as the realization hits him that he's on the ground for some reason. Did they fall out of bed? No, he realizes in surprise, looking up at the sky above them.]
Oy, Malik...
no subject
Huh...? [He twists his head enough to glance around eyes bleary and not quite comprehending the situation. When he looks up and spots the sky, it finally hits him.]
What in the...
no subject
Malik... How the hell did we lose a fucking building?
[There's too many people to consider being here in this state 'safe'. Reaching down, he feels out the familiar feeling of the knife against his ankle, hidden underneath his pyjamas. Good... they're not entirely helpless, then.]
no subject
Out here in the open like this, they were sitting ducks. The fact that the school had disappeared like that was incredibly unnerving, and all he could think about was finding a place to hide.]
Come on! [He pulls himself out of Bakura's arms, urging him to get up with as much composure as he can.]
no subject
His quick mind takes note of the situation easily. If the school was gone, nobody could tell what would be next, and there would be no shelter if there was a storm. But that wasn't the issue. What was the issue was that Malik and his host were in danger like this. In the open, if anyone decided to hurt them, they were done for. Though with the blend of people here, it might be safer to stick around a little.]
Like this, there's no sense making for the lake, like we did last time. And the caves would be too obvious. We'll have to head into the jungle and rely on the streams for water.
But, Malik, I don't think anyone will attack us with this many people around. The problem will be what happens when they disperse, or we're out of earshot.
[Wake up. You need to see this...
Forgoing his usual supression method, he mentally shook his host awake. It was important for him to observe the situation this time.]
Ryou's awake.
[The hidden 'watch your words' was implied.]
no subject
Bakura had a point. With so many other people around, only a fool would try to attack them, and without his Rod on him that "past" Bakura shouldn't even notice him. But that was far from his biggest concern right now.]
That's true, but I doubt they'll stay here long.
[He gives a small nod to acknowledge Ryou's presence before continuing. He'll have to make sure he doesn't say anything incriminating, then...]
We should still leave...I don't like this. [Malik glances down at the concrete around them, finding a chill creep up his spine.] I can't tell if this is an illusion or real...
[His Rod could cast an illusion like this, and considering the item was missing, he was growing suspicious.
If they were stolen, he'd find a way to kill the one who did it and get it back, but if they'd just vanished with the rest of the school...
Malik felt an unpleasant churn in his gut, a dangerous amount of despair at the pit of it. If he lost the Rod now, and Ra... Everything he'd work for would be ruined.]
no subject
If it's an illusion, it's on a large level. We should find somewhere temporary to hole up and plan. I can scout for somewhere more long-term once we've got somewhere safe.
[The missing Rod was concerning, but his biggest priority right now was Malik. He could regain the Rod once he tracked down whoever was behind this and ripped their soul out through their stomach. If Malik was so uncomfortable here, they'd need to find somewhere else.]
If it's an illusion, we'd still need to avoid the walls, right?
no subject
...I don't know. [The answer was quieter than usual, but earnest.] I've never seen an illusion done on this scale before. But it's that or the building was magicked away without us noticing.
You tell me which seems more likely. [It was rhetorical, of course. Malik already knew the answer.]
no subject
[Ryou attempts to pat Malik on the head, but fails, and pouts in the background as he tags along.]
no subject
[Without the Rod, Malik was unable to see Ryou at all. He does sense something though, jerking slightly at the touch and looking around.]
A bug...?
no subject
[Bakura ignores Malik's paranoia in favour of leading him deeper into the forest.]
Something wrong?
no subject
Malik was too familiar with how the Rod worked to be able to simply let this go. He stops following Bakura suddenly, taking a slight step back. There was a look of growing horror on his face.]
no subject
...eh? Malik?
[Just to tease, Ryou runs fingers down Malik's spine.]
no subject
That sudden chill down his spine is mistaken for a sixth sense.]
I'm going to go back... [He abruptly turns and heads back for the school.]
no subject
[He moves quickly to grab Malik by the arm.]
Oy, Malik... weren't you the one who wanted to get away from it in the first place? Don't tell me you're getting spooked by those tricks.
no subject
...No. I'm going back.
no subject
[He follows him, looking confused.
Ryou's confusion is even worse. Why is Malik acting like such a weirdo? Is he really this freaked out?]
no subject
Were there any tell-tale signs of something or someone being effected by an illusion? He'd never had the Rod used on himself, so he couldn't be sure...]
no subject
What the hell's going on, Malik? You're acting kind of weird.
no subject
Eventually he settles the Bakura in front of him with a cold stare.]
I have no way of knowing if you're an illusion or not to go with this.
no subject
[Flopping down on the hard ground, he stretches, not even noticing as Ryou flops down beside them, kneeling there and watching the two of them curiously.]
Then how can I prove I'm not an illusion?
no subject
[His brow knits thoughtfully. If it was only an illusion, then maybe touch would do it? But then the fact they'd been able to simply walk off the concrete was disconcerting.
Then again, it may be that that spot wasn't where the school was at all.]
Come here. [He holds his hands out, utterly serious.]
no subject
[Confusedly, he moves over, not bothering to get up fully. It was more like crawling than anything else, but after a moment he was settled against Malik, pressing close.]
What, are you that lonely?
no subject
That's not what I meant. [He pushes Bakura back and plants his hands carelessly on his face, feeling it up.]
