CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: EVERYTHING AND THE KITCHEN SINK

[Hopefully everybody likes waking up outside.

Because as it were, in the middle of the night when everybody had been asleep or lulled into a sudden one by the sheer weight of the air around them...the Campus disappeared in its entirety. Left behind was only the cool surface of the concrete foundation.

For now it seems the residents were left to fend for themselves in the wilderness of the island. Not even the voice from over the intercom would comfort them.]

((ooc: the school has disappeared, along with all the NPCs and everything that was inside! no opt-out areas this time around. The temperature is cool during the day, and colder at night.

The event will last until October 20th, and I'll post a closer to signify it. Everything will be returned to its rightful place then.))

[He grumbles in irritation, but reluctantly submits to the feeling. It's the same skin, too soft despite the sharp angles of his face, unmarred save for the cross-shaped scar below his eye. It's just as warm as ever and he mockingly turns his head to press a kiss to the palm of Malik's hand at one point.]

[Malik jerks his hand back at the kiss, shooting Bakura a warning look before he continues. Out of everything, the very real feel of that scar beneath his fingertips was the most convincing.]

Okay...that's enough. You've got to be real. [He hopes.]

Sheesh, you're no fun sometimes.

[But despite that, he doesn't bother pulling away. Ryou mutters something to him and he glances to the side for a moment.]

I think my host owes you an apology.

[obeytherod]

...Hm? [Malik lowers his hands, giving Bakura a dubious look.] Why?

[fluffydeathdealer]

[Listening...]

He says he thinks he scared you. He was playing around with you to see if you'd react.

[obeytherod]

You're giving yourself way too much credit, Ryou. [He hasn't quite made the connection between that "bug" and the chill down his spine.] I was just concerned I might have been being lead into a trap.

[fluffydeathdealer]

[God, what is he, a transceiver?]

You panicked after he touched you, both times. So he was a little worried. But if that's all it is, he won't worry.

[obeytherod]

[Panicked was a strong word! But Malik realizes now that that phantom "bug" must have been Ryou.]

...Bakura, Ryou.

I don't care. We have more important things to worry about than that!

[fluffydeathdealer]

Tch-! We were dealing with those when you decided to lose your head and drag us back! Make up your damn mind!

[His voice is filled with irritation as he rises to his feet, turning his back on Malik.]

We've survived in the wilderness here before - and with you being helpless, no less! This should be little more difficult than before.

[If a lot colder... He taps his bare foot against the ground with a frown.]

I had every reason to be suspicious, Bakura. [Malik coldly retorts, getting to his own feet.]

And that's not true. Even with me being injured, we at least had all the supplies we needed. Right now we don't even have shoes.

[He huffs, looking towards the forest. Now that he was thinking straight, he could plan.] The first thing we should do is make those.

And just how do you plan to do that? I can probably skin and tan something, but we don't have any nails or anything like that.

[But his feet really do need something to protect them. They already hurt like hell.]

I'm thinking something even simpler than that. We could probably use some of the thicker vegetation. It might not hold up for long, but it should work for now.

[They hadn't even walked that far, but Malik's weren't feeling much better.]

[fluffydeathdealer]

Huh... that works for me. It seems you've had a pretty good idea.

[He blames the cold, personally. It makes the concrete feel bad, and the twigs and clods of earth underfoot once they leave it feel worse.]

Of course I have. I've picked up a lot by reading through peoples' minds with my Rod.

[That and he lived in Egypt. It wasn't a totally foreign concept, although this was definitely stretching it.]

You have a dagger, right? We can use that.

[fluffydeathdealer]

Yeah.

[Stooping down, he pulls up his pyjama leg to grasp the hilt of the ornate blade, admiring how it looks in the dim light as he twirls it in his hand.]

Good thing I sleep with this. Though after this I'm going to have to start sleeping with my deck too, if I can find it.

[obeytherod]

Me too. If my deck and the Rod don't show back up...

[The waver in his voice is enough to express just how unnerving he found that thought, even without finishing it.

Right now, he doesn't even want to think about it.]

Go and gather some thick leaves, dried out plant stems...anything that we can tie together and use as padding.

[fluffydeathdealer]

... [The Items had a will of their own, to a point, but surely it wouldn't be enough to return if it was lost for good. This was definitely going to be a problem if it was long lasting. There was no way he could return home without the Rod and Ra. Both were necessary for his plans. Tch...]

We can worry about that later. You're more important right now.

[With that oddly affectionate statement, he heads into the forest without even glancing back. Be back soon, Malik!]

... [Without answering that sweet statement, Malik just sits tight and waits for Bakura's return. Or he tries to, but he's feeling a bit sore down there and ends up laying on his back instead. Of course the school had to disappear now, of all times!

But at least Bakura didn't put up a fight for once and just followed directions.

He'll probably have to help make the shoes still...]

[Even Bakura knows when it's time to fight and when it's necessary to comply. He has his own concerns about the building disappearing, but when he returns it's with an arm full of thick leaves - carefully checked to make sure they weren't anything like poison ivy - stems, vines, and a handful of fruits in case Malik is hungry.]

Ah, good! [Malik sits back up, only to wince tellingly. His cheeks tinge just then, but he quickly covers up that embarrassment by grabbing some of what Bakura was carrying and setting it at his side.]

[Bakura's amused grin is a clear sign that he knows what Malik's feeling, and he sinks down to kneel beside him.]

I guess if you can't sit down for long, you're going to need them more than me...

[Smirk.]

Watch it. [He warns, feeling even more embarrassed knowing that Bakura had figured it out that easily.]

Just give me your knife. I'll make my own shoes! [Besides, he already knows how he's going to do this. It'll be faster than explaining it to Bakura.]

[fluffydeathdealer]

[Bakura offers it, hilt-first. He absently muses that Malik better give it back afterwards or else he'll get a boot up his sore ass never mind anything else.]

[Taking the knife and nodding, Malik begins to work. He goes through a few different tries before finally ending up with his final product:

Dried palm-tree like leaves wrapped around some miscellaneous foliage with stems and vines tied around all that to keep it together. The binding to keep it on his foot consists of some of the more forgivingly soft vines.

All-in-all...it looks like it'll hold together as long as they tread carefully.

That still took a good twenty minutes, and now he has to start on the second one. It's obvious he's feeling impatient, but Malik works diligently nonetheless.]

[Bakura watches in silence for the most part, not wanting to throw Malik off.]

Hoh, this is pretty good work.
